About the role

Job Description

Join a leading global financial institution at the forefront of technological innovation, where you will be part of a dynamic team of IT infrastructure system administrators responsible for automation, integration and Unix Platform Support. This is a pivotal role to shape the future of our global infrastructure by driving the adoption of infrastructure as code (IaC) and fostering a culture of automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will lead automation development and mentor your fellow team members to transition into coding practices and onboard new developer talent, empowering them to deliver scalable, automated solutions that power our critical financial systems. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure strategies with business objectives, ensuring reliability, security, and performance in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

What will you do?

  • Platform Support: Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, servers, and applications. Monitor system performance, uptime, and availability of hardware, software, and network resources. Diagnose and resolve system issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide technical support to users and other teams.

  • Drive Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency. Knowledge of Ansible and be able to develop playbooks.

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with platform operations, integration, storage, networking, and product teams to define infrastructure roadmaps, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.

  • Ensure Compliance and Security: Implement and maintain security policies, perform security audits, and ensure systems are patched and secure. Perform security audits and implement security measures to protect the organization's data. Ensure high levels of uptime and system availability. Partner with security and compliance teams to implement robust controls, ensuring infrastructure meets regulatory standards.

  • Innovate and Improve: Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies to enhance infrastructure efficiency and resilience.

What you need to succeed

Must Haves:

  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure supporting Linux platform, with at least 5 years in an automation development role.

  • Proven experience with IaC tools (e.g., Ansible, Github)

  • Hands-on coding experience (e.g., Python, Korn/Bourne Shell) or prior role as a developer, enabling deeper technical guidance for the team.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, particularly in transitioning to coding or DevOps practices, with a focus on professional growth.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., storage, networking, security) and align with respective stakeholders.

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical infrastructure strategies, balancing innovation with operational stability.

  • Bachelors Degree in CompSci or related degree preferred

Nice to Haves:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, or container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Experience leading teams through technical transformations or cultural shifts in large organizations.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $125,000 – $190,000  depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with
