Role Description
Form Energy’s iron-air battery storage technology is ready to leave the lab and be deployed in the field—the missing link is our ability to manufacture our battery systems at scale. To get there, we’re building factories for the 21st century, with software and data built in from the start. The Manufacturing Software Engineering team is responsible for the suite of software products that safely and efficiently runs the factory floor, orchestrates the flow of material, enables data-driven process and quality improvement, and more.
As a manufacturing systems software engineer and tech lead on the team, you’ll architect and develop MES/SCADA systems in Ignition and Sepasoft alongside the development, bring-up, and scale-up of first-of-a-kind manufacturing lines. This is a unique opportunity to leverage and expand your software and manufacturing experience to make a direct impact on climate change as part of a fast-growing team.
This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Build the technical vision for Form’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
Design, develop, deliver, and evolve MES HMI and SCADA capabilities for novel battery electrode and assembly lines
Deliver against clear SLAs for data quality, system uptime, etc to ensure rapid problem-solving and efficient operations in a 24/7 factory
Represent the MES function in collaborations with equipment vendors and integrators (provide technical requirements, factory acceptance testing, etc)
Advocate for high-quality Ignition/Sepasoft practices, and lead by example
Participate in rotating on-call shifts and on-the-floor support
Collaborate with a diverse team across Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Controls, Product, and other Software Eng. teams
Act primarily as a technical lead, with the opportunity to grow as a people manager
What you'll bring:
7+ years professional engineering experience
Passion for developing manufacturing software systems in Ignition, Sepasoft, and Python
Proficiency in multiple of the following: database systems, distributed cloud computing, pub-sub messaging services, SCADA, OPC UA, Modbus & PLC integration, web-based frontend development, Oracle or similar ERP platforms
Strong understanding of data modeling for performance and scalability
Passion for our mission, leading you to be simultaneously eager to move on to the next opportunity to accelerate the team, and detail-oriented to deliver a high-quality product
Excitement to build a factory from scratch and deploy a new class of climate tech solution
Ability to work from the Greater Pittsburgh, PA or Weirton, WV region (relocation available)
