Job Description
The Data Services Team collaborates with customers and internal departments including Sales, GPD (Global Product Development), IT (Information Technology), CS (Customer Service) and OPS (Operations) to develop and maintain automated solutions for printed labeling based on customer’s variable data. This process requires taking data from our customers’ IT systems and integrating it into Avery Dennison’s software solutions, which enable the variable data (prices, sizes, etc.) to print correctly on tags and labels that include price tags, logistics stickers as well as care and content labels – either printing and shipping to the customer or enabling the customer to print themselves.
Within the Data Services Team the DSS (Data Solutions Specialist) serves as the customer-facing variable data expert that engages directly with the customer to analyze their existing business data systems and take the technical steps to map and integrate the customer's data into the Avery Dennison system/software. Based on the integrated variable data the Automation Developer within the Data Services Team further supports the process by making the customer items available for online ordering with an automated generation of production layouts for items with variable data produced with various methods, including rotary/offset, thermal and digital.
The Data Services Team Lead leads and develops a team of up to 16 Data Solutions Specialists and Automation Developers to assure timely and accurate item setups for ordering and production.
Responsibilities
Serve as variable data product line expert / team lead to other team members, ensuring the team is operating at the highest level with the right product knowledge, prioritisation, and workload balance
Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the team and own tasks such as: attendance/vacation schedule, team schedule, escalations and claims/expenses
Support and drive End to End (E2E) Variable Data strategy implementation
Ensure E2E Setup and Support metrics are within the agreed SLA
Act as first point of escalation for the team members for technical issues and prioritisation requests
Collaborate with other Team Leads within the Data Services Team and other functions/departments
Provide guidance and support to new customer programs and initiatives, ensuring solutions are available in time
Ensure process compliance and adherence of existing standards such as coding conventions, procedures, operational manuals and consistency of setups, etc.
Make recommendations on how to improve current procedures and processes
Manage GPS performance reviews and identify opportunities for training, coaching and development
Support the Regional Manager Data Services to build and review GPS/KSO targets
Provide training directly or review wider development gaps with the Regional Manager Data Services
Participate in interviews for hiring new team members in conjunction with the Regional Manager Data Services
Manage Equipment contracts / Service calls and supplies for the lab
Qualifications
Strong people leadership and supervisory skills with some prior experience preferable
Ability to be highly organized while managing multiple projects to completion against tight deadlines
Self motivated with ability to work independently under own initiative, take ownership and drive for solutions
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong customer relationships
Commercial acumen and strategic thinking
