Title: Sr. Development Engineer – Military

Position Summary:

This position performs engineering work related to research, design, and the application of engines and engine systems used in military/defense applications. This position must have strong engine knowledge and experience. The focus of this position is the development of reciprocating diesel and/or gas engine systems.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Manage program performance and schedule and related lifecycle management (obsolescence) for new or existing products.
  • Specify, size, and select subsystem components for engine or engine related system designs according to project specification, focusing but not limited to the electrical subsystems and components within the engine or powerpack.
  • Development of engine design concepts and derivation of subsystem and safety requirements - electrical interfaces and human safety factors.
  • Coordinate and contribute to design execution with cross-functional project team (program / project management efforts related to product release and manufacturing support)
  • Manage engine and subsystem performance builds and validation testing
  • Author program summary reports, performance summary reports, or other project team / Defense team facing reports as needed
  • Preparation of schedules and presentation of selected efforts and identified alternatives to maintain program scope, schedule and goals.
  • Support customer service, training, sales, and other departments as necessary.
  • Contribute to Engine Calibration via IT interface (DDEC WEB / Daimler Sundown - IT Solution support)
  • Support product performance through interaction with manufacturing supply chain and Supplier Quality
  • Coordinate required data with key customer accounts
  • Promote a safety & compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required

Basic Requirements: 

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years’ engineering systems experience in engine calibration, engine design, engine simulation or program management; or 9 years’ experience in engine calibration, engine design, engine simulation or program management.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong experience with: Matlab\Simulink, NI Labview, PLC Programming
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
