Executive Director, Operational Excellence

The Role:

• Work in partnership with the CMC leadership team to manage, change, facilitate, and drive operational excellence

• Establish and manage CMC operational excellence program to ensure deployment effectiveness with quantifiable financial tracking and KPI performance monitoring.

• Align with sites and functions on strategy for improvement initiatives including Lean, Six Sigma, AGILE and other initiatives, and support prioritization and implementation

• Lead strategic projects and initiatives at the CMC LT level working across the matrix organization including global and site functions

• Develop and maintains cross-functional relationships across the network to ensure business operations excellence are performed in alignment with vision and goals.

• Work with internal Moderna OEx resources to leverage existing efforts and content materials

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Align with CMC Functions and Sites to develop and manage OE program KPIs. Ensure alignment and integration, including Digital, EHS, Diversity, etc

• Establish and manage the CMC LT OE cadence. Ensure representation and integration with other governance forums in the Strategy and Innovation function.

• Identify key performance improvement initiatives. Support Function and Site prioritization and implementation.

• Support coordinate planning for the annual business cycle (LRP, Budget, Resourcing, etc.).

• Lead a variety of strategic projects and initiatives working across the matrix organization including global and site functions.

• Hold routine meetings with plant leads and functional leads to monitor and gauge health of processes, ana culture while assisting to resolve conflicting priorities.

• Build community and provide support to Operational Excellence leads; ensure alignment of approach and best practices for Training and PMO activities

• Maintain a strong network with key stakeholders ensuring alignment with global systems, processes, and best practices.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• Education: University degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. sciences, engineering, business); advanced degree a plus​

• Experience: 10+ years of pharmaceuticals/biotechnology experience in Quality, Supply Chain, Process Development, Manufacturing, MS&T, Engineering or Program Management. Experience in Commercial and/or GMP environments preferred. ​

• Black Belt Certification

• 10+ years of Lean / Operational Excellence programs, preferably in Life Science and/or Bio Pharma

• Demonstrated experience leading business critical initiatives within a matrix organization. Significant experience in managing cross-functional, global teams

• Ability to work in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit​

• Ability to manage ambiguity and chart a course forward​

• Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions​

• Excellent written and oral communication skills​

• Time management and organizational skills​

• Strong knowledge of project management tools/software (Microsoft Project or Smartsheet), and digital solutions preferred​

• Demonstrated track record of learning and willing to take career risks
