What’s the role?

Etsy is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Enterprise Identity and Access Management team within the Security and Privacy group. Our aim is to balance security and ease of access to provide a great experience for our internal customers while protecting our data, applications, systems, and infrastructure.

Your leadership will ensure that our IAM systems, tooling, and processes remain adaptive, scalable, and fortified, ready to accommodate the evolving needs of our business sectors. Your role will require strong collaboration with other security and engineering leaders, compliance, legal, HR, and more cross functional teams.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Director of Security and Privacy and the base salary range will be $230,000 - $299,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States, however candidates living within commutable distance of the Etsy Brooklyn Hub, or within the San Francisco area, will be the first to be considered. What does the day-to-day look like?

• You will be responsible for building and managing a team of highly effective engineers and serve as their coach, mentor, and advocate.
• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of an ambitious IAM strategy, roadmap and objectives and key results.
• Blueprint and champion the evolution of our IAM mechanisms.
• Craft and enforce protocols to bolster business resilience and the confidentiality and integrity of data.
• Improve and maintain critical workflows pertaining to user provisioning, deprovisioning, service & application access.
• Work cross functionally with a variety of internal departments including Engineering, Legal, HR, Compliance, and others to meet business needs while designing for a great user experience.
• Ensure your team has excellent and current documentation for configurations, processes, architecture and well defined playbooks.

Qualifications

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• Accumulated 7+ years of experience in IAM and relevant security domains
• A minimum of 3 years in a people management role.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience in building enterprise IAM systems and solutions!
• Experience with IAM products and applications related to identity, authentication, authorization, MFA, SSO and security protocols like SAML, OAuth, and API Access Management.
• Experience with major cloud providers, container tools, and orchestrations.
• Knowledge of Directory Services, LDAP Operations, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of evaluating systems, architectural designs, data-flow diagrams, and technical security implementations in the context of access management.
