Being a Rehabilitation Specialist in the Healthy Working Life Department means that your primary duties surround the assessment of occupational duties and demands to issue opinions on the ability of customers to meet the definition of disability per specific policies. You will review information as outlined by a claims manager to use in your analyses. In addition, you may be expected to also spend some time assessing customer’s return-to-work needs on the phone and help outline their work goals. On to the good stuff …What you’ll do:
- Tell a story through professional documentation – Document opinions and findings in a manner that is not only clear and concise but follows detailed workflows and procedures using proprietary systems.
- Manage your day through competing priorities – Quickly be able to switch between different tasks depending on urgency and timing of referrals from our claims partners.
- Be the expert – Performing occupational and transferable skills analysis will be the bulk of your daily work. While accepted sources of information and templates will be provided it is your job to bring everything together into informative reports.
- Be an educator - While you will use technology to help complete your work, be able to explain findings without the use of any technological aids. Teach claims partners and peers about occupations, job duties, industry trends, and how experience translates into wages.
- Communicate clearly – Conduct telephonic return-to-work interviews with customers and document initial work goals and interest in participating in ongoing vocational rehabilitation. Collaborate with employer-clients to negotiate supportive and appropriate work duties.
- Improve (us and you) – Collaborate with a network of CRC Rehabilitation Specialists and Vocational Coaches to talk about best-in-class approaches to our program and individualized work with the customers we serve.
What you need for the job:
- Passion for the analytical side of rehabilitation counseling.
- Master’s Degree with focus in Rehabilitation Counseling.
- Active Certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC; or will by your first day of work).
- Experience conducting reviews of records and/or evaluations and conducting research to provide objective expert opinions based on relevant data and methodologies appropriate to evaluations in a disability insurance setting.
- Prior forensic assessment in disability insurance industry.
- Deep understanding of occupational classification systems with experience completing Transferable Skills Analyses and Occupational Analyses, along with authoring reports of findings.
- Experience using Economic Research Institute’s Occupational Assessor to evaluate occupational duties and requirements.
- Be tech savvy. Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and being able to quickly learn proprietary claims management systems are a must.
