About us:
GEO Academy at Baker, LA is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8 and a blended learning model in elementary school through high school.

This is a full-time, year-round administrative position

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
A Lead Principal is expected to perform the following duties: 

• Work with Associate Principals to hire, develop, train and evaluate all staff 
• Monitor and maintain alignment for Pre-k through 8 learners for GEO Academy at Baker, including: policies, curriculum, training, professional development, special education/504, high ability, testing, calendars, public relations, programming and protocol
• Provide oversight and support to the Associate Principals' position and responsibilities
• Meet deadlines
• Participate in personal and professional growth activities
• Use all available research to evaluate instructional issues
• Work cooperatively with all GEO team members
• Liaison for GEO/school
• Monitor compliance for all grants and charter including DOE requirements 
• Monitor and supervise data management 
• Create board reports focused on district activities, accomplishments and concerns
• Attend and participate in all GEO/School macro management meetings
• Support a welcoming and inclusive environment for parents, community, and other volunteers
• Support a strong culture of discipline and respect within the school community among students and staff
• Promote and cultivate a positive learning culture and climate in the buildings and district
• Follow all board and GEO Foundation policies and regulations
• Dress professionally and uphold all school policies
• Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Master’s degree in school leadership and administration required
• Educational Leader Certification preferred
• Successful experience as a building administrator with proven organizational, problem solving, and written and oral communication skills
• Strong background in strategic planning and managing school operations effectively.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching and/or urban non-profit corporation experience
• Expertise in school and/or organizational policy, procedures, and program development 
• Proficiency in budgeting and resource management within an educational context.
• Familiarity with curriculum development processes and best practices in education.
• Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. 
• Proven ability to motivate, inspire and manage a diverse staff
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to collaborate with others in an entrepreneurial spirit, focused on improving student achievement and school excellence

• Blended Learning with an online environment
• Data-driven analysis and instruction proficiency 
• Successful teaching or leadership experience in an urban environment
