Responsibilities

This position is with Keysight’s Semiconductor Infrastructure Solutions (SIS) organization.  We are a world leader in the design and manufacture of laser interferometry systems, precision optical components, complex monolithic optics (CMOs), and advanced electronic measurement solutions.  Our systems offer high precision in a wide dynamic range, the ability to simultaneously measure positions with multiple degrees of freedom, and the highest accuracy available in both air and vacuum environments. 

 

We are seeking an experienced candidate to join our Optics Manufacturing Engineering team.  The selected candidate will be part of our NPI team to introduce new products to our advanced optics and interferometer production. This position will have opportunities to adapt new technologies, transform start-of-art engineering designs into valuable and manufacturable products, particularly from optical coating and related process development. 

 

Coating Manufacturing Engineer

As an Optical Coating Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop new coating designs and processes to meet state of the art requirements for our next generation interferometer systems. You will use your background in optical coatings to lead improvements in the coating processes and work with the maintenance engineers and process technicians to keep production flowing.  You will also consult with product development teams on coatings for new products.   

 

Responsibilities

 

• Lead coating process development, documentation, process training and responsibility to maintain production yield, quality and cleanliness 

 

• Provide coating design and process support for manufacture of coated optics.

 

• Work closely with R&D Teams to Initiate and design new manufacturing processes for NPI products of precision optical coatings

 

• Drive cost reduction and commit the best process control to make top quality products for customers

 

• Participate in NPI product transfer with various Production Manufacturing teams and conduct coating process training to technicians

 

Qualifications

Essential: 

Minimum 5 years of design and hands-on experience in Optics Coating Engineering:

 

• Experience using Thin Film Design software and coating material characterization software tools, such as Optilayer, OptiChar and Essential Macleod

 

• Knowledge & experience of coating deposition processes such as magnetron sputtering, e-beam and e-beam ion assist

 

• Knowledge & experience of coating metrology such as spectrophotometry, microscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry

 

• Actively thinking and acting independently to propose or translate ideas and new concepts into tangible results

 

• Excellent communication and ability to work well in team environment with people at all levels 

 

• BS/MS/PhD in Physics, Optical Sciences or similar technical field

 

Desire: 

• Direct design or manufacturing of precision opto-mechanical products such as optical component, lasers, fiber coupling, interferometers or optical system integration 

          

• Depth of knowledge on quality control using 6 Sigma, quality management system is highly desirable
