HID Global is a leader in the government security and strong authentication solutions. We are currently seeking an Engineering Intern for our team. This intern could work on one or more of a variety of projects, such as:
- Software user interface design and enhancements – research various user interface frameworks and methodologies that could provide improved user experiences to existing software while minimizing engineering efforts needed.
- Improvements to software test automation infrastructure – add or augment existing software automation tools to provide further improvements to current product quality.
- Build robotic tooling – build devices to simulate human interactions with hardware devices.
- Embedded firmware development – build and improve embedded linux software for specialized security devices.
- Innovation around physical access control systems – design, refine, and implement ideas relevant to the PACS industry or other tooling to assist with the product development process.

As our Engineering Intern, you’ll support HID’s success by:
- Collaborating with developers, test, and other full time engineering personnel.
- Understanding and clarifying software requirements.
- Developing test cases.
- Developing product knowledge.
- Creating scripts, software tools, and potentially hardware tools to assist with automated product testing infrastructure.
- Executing manual and automated tests.
- Assisting with debugging and error case reproduction.
- Documenting product defects and test fixes.
Your Experience and Background include:
- Actively studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar for at least two years.
- Course work involving software development, or other technology-related product development.
- Experience with software development, computer programming, and basics of development environments.
- Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, etc.
- Experience with distributed version control systems (such as Git).
- Ability to clearly describe (verbally and written) technical information.
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and analysis skills.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Ability to independently solve problems.
