Job Description Summary
Process Engineering position associated with the manufacturing processes of Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) parts for aircraft engines in a production environment. Will lead & focus on improvement projects and shop floor support for a product line in an assigned area. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role will have autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Self-directed judgment and drive will be required.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform all related tasks for Tollgate, MRL & PRR NPI development.
- Plan, support and execute APQP requirements
- Create, propose & control project cost (budgets)
- Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment during trials, etc
- Improve all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost
- Lead improvement projects from concept to completion & assure sustainment
- Drive & lead/cycle time improvements
- Lead & support Low Rate and Full Rate Production
- Design & implement necessary equipment, tooling & fixtures for manufacturing development and process improvements
- Create, maintain & adhere to schedules to achieve business metrics/targets
- Apply in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline
- Participate & Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action activity related to concerns that arise during the manufacturing process
- Listen to the voice on the floor, understand the problem and implement effective countermeasures & assure sustainability
- DFM proposals to Design Engineering with supporting data, proposing solutions and see implemented
- Manage projects related to manufacturing process enhancement
- Hands on problem solving & investigation

- Work closely with shop floor personnel
- Time allocation: manufacturing floor (50%), office (50%)
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Use judgment and ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
- May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
- To be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills.
- Perform root cause and corrective action of product & process failures and defects
- Collaborate with design engineering, operations, and quality to improve manufacturability and resolve issues
- Lead projects: Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field
- Limited remote working conditions
- Limited travel (equipment run off, supplier visits) - 5-10%
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years machining manufacturing engineering experience
- Minimum of 3 years machining manufacturing engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum of 8 years of CNC machining/programming experience with Manufacturing/Process Engineering of Production Processes and equipment
- Proven equipment procurement (scope creation thru installation sustainment period)
- Proven root cause & corrective action experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to document, plan and execute improvement activities
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Cp/cpk/SPC experience
- Data driven decision making
- High ownership skills with ability to work with limited supervision
