The Opportunity
The Accounting Manager is a “hands-on” position whose primary responsibilities are to effectively assist in managing and performing the daily accounting operations to support the organization. The individual will oversee the month-end close process and the transaction processing functions, and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data. This position will work with the Biohub SF finance team and other Biohub entities as required. You will assist in setting and maintaining accounting policies and the creation and execution of new processes to support company growth and efficiencies.
The position will be based in San Francisco, CA either on a hybrid or on-site basis.
You will
- Manage the month-end close process in accordance with the monthly close calendars and ensure closing objectives are met. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results in accordance with US GAAP
- Serve as the internal technical accounting resource to ensure accurate accounting for new and/or non-recurring transactions
- Review new and amended contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment and coordinate with FP&A and accounting team regarding recording of costs and activities
- Collaborate with certain employees and third parties to facilitate the timely and accurate receipt of financial data required for the financial close
- Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
- Prepare monthly financial statements and provide to parent for consolidation and reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation to reduce time to close and improve accuracy of underlying accounting records
- Recommend, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
- Provide planning, direction and coordination of accounting operational functions, including accounts payable, billings, fixed assets, and payroll
- Process or review payroll and related payroll journal entries and reconciliations
- Ensure all transactions and cash disbursements are consistent with our accounting policies and procedures
- Perform weekly payment batch review and approve invoices for payment
- Prepare operational cash forecast and monitor cash balances, request transfers as needed
- Support and guide purchasing and accounts payable team on appropriate coding and inquiries from vendors
- Implement, maintain and execute internal controls for procure-to-pay, hire-to-pay and record-to-report workflows
- Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) policies and procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements, including optimizing systems used
- Manage the preparation and processing of business registrations and tax filings
- Support parent company requests for the annual audit and tax returns, including preparing PBC schedules as requested
- Supervise and provide guidance to the accounting staff
- Coach, manage and develop staff to meet goals that support to the organization
- Perform other duties as required
You have
Essential –
- Bachelors in Accounting
- 7 + years’ experience in accounting
- 3+ years’ people manag
