About the role
Summary of Essential Functions
- Provides diagnostic studies: Transcutaneous Oximetry measurements with laser doppler studies for Hyperbaric medicine
- Provides therapeutic procedures: Hyperbaric therapy and minor wound care
- Performs record keeping, quality improvement, equipment processing and supply stocking
- Performs Hyperbaric therapy with an understanding of age-specific cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation as related to respective patient care standards
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Completion of a UHMS approved Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Course
Licensure and Certifications
- Certification for Hyperbaric therapy by NBDHMT is required
- Must have CPR
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Exercises good time management
- Demonstrates competency in the care of patients
Physical Requirements
- Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; additional hours may be asked to work other hours as needed, including weekends
- May be expected to lift over twenty five (25) pounds
- Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols
- Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers
- Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
- Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties
Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand Hyperbaric medicine anatomy and physiology. Able to interpret Transcutaneous Oximetry measurements and Laser doppler values
- Capable of troubleshooting Hyperbaric Chamber problems
- Apply and execute physician orders
- Able to perform Hyperbaric medicine protocols
- Performs patient evaluations
- Approach all care tasks with critical insight and make suggestions for changes as deemed appropriate
- Ensures proper documentation of patient and family education
- Acts as a clinical instructor when needed for the education of respiratory care and hyperbaric medicine with students that rotate through the department
- Assist with technical and clinical questions of staff
- Develop and/or administer staff inservice education programs
- Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
