The CIBC Summer Internship Program is designed to offer great work experience to complement students’ classroom training and career goals. Throughout the summer, interns will meet with our executive leadership team, network with employees and fellow interns, and participate in community outreach. We are devoted to finding, selecting, and training interns who will make a positive impact on our company while offering a full learning experience. Our Interns will work alongside a lean, proven team of investment professionals, gaining technical and analytical skills. 

CIBC’s Summer Internship program runs for 10 weeks beginning in June 2025 through August.  During this time, you will have access to training opportunities, mentorship, and leadership support.

What You’ll Be Doing

This internship position will support the Personal & Community Development Banking Group, which is part of the CIBC US Private, Personal & Digital Banking Group. The group supports our US Banking Center businesses,  and Community Impact initiatives. CIBC Bank USA is committed to supporting causes that matter to our clients, our employees and our communities. We aim to make a difference in communities through specialized community development financing, corporate donations, sponsorships and the volunteer spirit of our employees.

  • Support the delivery of community development lending through the preparation of financial analysis for new and existing loans , assisting with preparation of draft investment and loan presentations for committee approval and and supporting loan portfolio maintenance including data collection and covenant compliance reporting
  • Support the preparation of financial analysis for CRA Investments including review of closing documents and internal compliance review for recent investments
  • Support the Banking Center small business strategy by working to identify opportunities to expand services to clients through the Banking Center network.
  • Partner with the Private, Personal & Digital team to analyze Banking Center client insights for relationship expansion opportunities.
  • Support teams across Personal & Community Development Banking with other projects as time allows.

Who You Are

  • Working toward a degree in community development, urban planning, real estate finance, accounting or related field
  • Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking ability; detail oriented; and able to independently manage multiple projects and timelines necessary for success.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills,
