Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Description

Assist with all aspects of NCAA Division I Women's Basketball program, including student-athlete recruitment , on floor coaching, monitoring academic progress and on court development.  Must comply with all NCAA and Saint Mary's College rules, regulations, and by-laws.  Other duties will be assigned by Head Coach and may include summer camps, donors, community service involvement, and on campus involvement

Requirements

1.  Assist with organizing practice and intercollegiate competitions.  Teach necessary fundamental basketball skills and strategies of team play.

2.  Promote and foster a positive team environment, appropriate behavior, and sportsmanship by team members.

3.  Coordinate and monitor the academic performance of team members

4.  Assist with evaluating and recruitment of prospective athletes.  This includes the documentation in software, assigned phone calls, emails, and written correspondence. Assist with on and off campus visits of prospects.

5.  Work diligently to promote women's basketball program to surrounding communities.  Work with campus groups to promote women's basketball programs among students, faculty and staff.

6.  Keep office organized and well maintained.  Complete all campus and department paperwork and make sure all documents are secured properly.

7.  Solving complex problems - working with current coaching staff, student-athletes, campus faculty and area coaches.

8.  Must be able to make decision regarding priorities

Education Requirement:  Bachelor's Degree -- prefer Master's degree

Experience:  three to five years

Other requirements:  Strong interpersonal skills with abilty to deal with all levels of players, coaches, administrators, and staff.  Strong organizatio skill with ability to handle mulitple, competing tasks and priorities.  Team oriented individual with willingness to take initiative and be flexible.
