About the Role
The Senior Electrode R&D Engineer BCI will enable the BCI Electrode team in the design, fabrication, and process characterization and optimization of different neural electrode products. They will also support and lead different R&D and other funded projects in executing project milestones, as well as facilitate electrode manufacturing by improving yield.
What You’ll Do
- Work as a microfabrication engineer in various R&D and other funded projects
- Training engineers, technicians, and troubleshooting and problem-solving engineering and production issues
- Perform installation qualification, operation qualification, and performance qualification to ensure the proper installation, operation, and performance of equipment and systems as intended
- Work on the project milestones, design phase, and project deliverables
- Work on preliminary proof of concept ideas and execute experiments to generate feasibility results
- Work with the team in grant submission when required
- Develop test protocols and reports
- Write technical reports and specifications for processes
- Transfer R&D project to manufacturing
- Improve electrode array manufacturing yield
- Coordinate efforts between teams of engineers
- Coordinate efforts between the company and consultants or vendors
- Perform other assignments as required by the management
Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or related field required
- At least 3 years of experience in a microfabrication-based research and development environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in semiconductor processing, and micro-fabrication processes and equipment is required
- Hands-on experience in the fabrication and characterization of Diodes and Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS) is required
- Experience with photolithography processes including thin film deposition techniques (for metal, dielectrics, and photoresist)
- Dry and wet etching techniques
- Metallization deposition techniques such as sputtering
- Chemical vapor deposition
- Characterization of micro fabrication processes (SEM, profilometry, etc.)
- Process control and analysis
