Network Engineer (hybrid)

What you’ll be doing:

As a member of the Zirous team, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of networking projects. • Provide architecture, implementation and support of network services for clients.
• Review client environments and make recommendations to replace and/or improve their current network solutions and configuration and enhance their overall security and performance.
• Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
• Stay current on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain informed of developments in the networking industry.
• Collaborate with staff members within the Cloud and Managed Services division.
• Work on other technologies as time allows (i.e. VMWare, Network Attached Storage, Windows server management, workstation security).
• Resolve technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
• Coordinate with the Zirous technical team and client teams on strategy and implementation details
• Work with a project team to gather business and technical requirements.
• Work closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project implementation.
• Provide expert and specialized hands-on technical support, consultation and coaching to clients.
• Responsible for development and management of technical strategies and initiatives that take advantage of existing technologies, as well as bring forth new technologies that address business needs in an efficient manner.
• Complete evaluation, selection and management of technology partners to supplement Zirous’ subject matter knowledge.
• Travel to client offices throughout Iowa and Nebraska as required based on project scope.
• Other duties as assigned.

Location: This position offers a hybrid work model, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays, and on-site at our office in West Des Moines, IA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to work a hybrid model within the Des Moines, IA metro.
• Minimum of 4 years of Network Engineering experience.
• Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
• Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. 
• Previous experience with:
• Network technology vendors: Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Watchguard and Ubiquiti.
• Back-office technologies: M365/O365, OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint, Windows Server 2012-2019, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory
• Security technologies: Endpoint protection, Zero Trust network access, email security, intrusion prevention systems and intrusion detection s
