We study factors that influence child outcomes, develop and test promising interventions, and advance evidence-based practices and policies that can inform change and unlock opportunities for all children and their families.

 

Occupational Summary

This staff member will perform a variety of technical duties involved in the application of intermediate statistical and technical skills in the collection, compilation and analysis of statistical data in conjunction with an academic research program. This position will include work on two research projects: NC Community Schools and ITTI Care. NC Community Schools is an expansion project to support the creation of public schools that partner with the community to improve student outcomes.  ITTI Care is an initiative to promote trauma-informed care and workforce wellness in child care centers and family child care homes. For both projects, we collect a wide array of data using surveys, interviews, focus groups, and administrative data sources. This position will be responsible for leading data cleaning, compiling analysis datasets, and performing basic and intermediate statistical analyses using SAS.

We are asking that this individual prepare de-identified data sets for use by students in research teams and academic courses. Due to data use agreements, certain datasets cannot be accessed by undergraduate students in their original form. By creating de-identified versions of these datasets, the programmer will help facilitate undergraduate involvement in data-driven research while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.

 

Work Performed

Perform a variety of duties involving the application of intermediate statistical and technical skills to the design of research studies, and to the collection, compilation and analysis of statistical data.

• Assist in developing data cleaning protocols
• Collaborate in creation of data analysis plans
• Lead the design and creation of datasets that meet analysis needs
• Conduct basic and intermediate statistical analyses using SAS
• Provide clear and well-documented SAS output for use in presentations and reports

 

Function independently as a member of a research/study team. Provide statistical input in the design, execution and analysis of scientifically conducted studies.

 

Participate in the development of operations and procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of statistical data.

 

Participate in developing data collection forms for scientific studies.

 

Operate one or more systems of computer hardware and statistical analysis software for the management and analysis of data.

 

Contribute to the preparation of written reports and oral presentations that summarize the analysis of data, interpret the findings and provide conclusions and recommendations. Perform other related duties
