Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist serves as primary scrub person or assistant for operative procedures.

Job Description

• Assist the RN with circulating duties as needed to carry out the implementation of appropriate interventions
• Primary duties include scrubbing, setting up cases, passing instruments, and assisting the physician.
• The Surgical Technologist can cut suture material as directed by the surgeon and apply electrocautery to clamps on bleeders under the direct supervision of the surgeon.
• Works with circulator, orderlies, and other room staff to perform post-case cleaning duties.

Requirements

• Surgical Technologists must graduate from a Surgical Technologist program or have comparable military training.
• Certification is preferred.
• Must have good written and verbal skills; must frequently work under pressure.
• Must be able to follow instructions explicitly as not to compromise patient care.
