Position Overview
Under general direction, functions as statewide coordinator of the WIC/Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) within the Bureau of Family Nutrition, DHS. Implements policy, organizes, plans, executes, controls and evaluates all operations related to WIC/Senior FMNP and CSFP programs; writes and monitors contracts for service providers offering programs to the public; serves as primary point of contact for WIC/Senior FMNP and CSFP programs; monitors and evaluates WIC/Senior FMNP and CSFP delivery systems; provides consultation, training and technical assistance on WIC/Senior FMNP and CSFP programs. Travels, including overnight stays in performance of duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as statewide coordinator of the WIC/Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) programs.
- Develops and interprets WIC/Senior FMNP and CSFP programs policies and state rules for providers and DHS staff.
- Conducts provider and partner meetings and reviews.
- Plans, develops, and provides training to others in DHS.
- Travels, including overnight stays, to reviews, workshops, conferences and USDA sponsored events related to program improvements.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably courses in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS
Of the two (2) years required administrative experience, requires two (2) years experience working with state and federally funded programs (including implementing regulations and policies), effectively communicating in oral and written form with both internal and external stakeholders (such as federal, state, and local government agencies) ensuring detailed and critical analysis of work performed, utilizing web-based applications, internet resources and databases, and developing annual contracts and/or budgets for a public or private organization utilizing spreadsheet software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships internally and externally, with community organizations, federal, state, and local governments.
- Two (2) years experience effectively communicating in oral and written form with both internal and external stakeholders (such as federal, state, and local government agencies).
- Two (2) years of professional experience exercising judgment and discretion in developing, installing, and evaluating new and revised methods, procedures, and performance standards.
