Responsibilities:
Minimum salary for this position is $6,375 per semester. The University of Michigan-Flint Criminal Justice Program seeks to fill a one-semester LEO lecturer I position to teach CRJ 432, Policing Contemporary Society, for the Winter 2026 semester.
CRJ 432 is a 3-credit undergraduate course required for advanced criminal justice majors. The course covers administrative and operational aspects of modern policing, such as organization and development of police, recruitment practices, socialization processes, and community relations (including community policing). It investigates the political and economic nature of policing as the foundation for critical review of policy and societal issues related to policing. Prerequisites include CRJ 185, Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, and junior standing. CRJ 432 is cross-listed with Public Administration (PUB 532), and may therefore also include graduate students enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program.
CRJ 432 will meet online asynchronously from Monday, January 5th until Friday, April 17th. The final exam period is Monday, April 20th to Saturday, April 25th.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Prospective candidates should minimally possess a master’s degree in criminal justice, or sociology or comparable discipline with an emphasis in criminal justice from an accredited program. Relevant teaching experience required. ABD status or PhD preferred.
Desired Qualifications
Experience using a Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas) is preferred.

Mobile/Remote
The work requirements allow for the majority or all of the work to be completed offsite.
