Description
The Department of Counseling at The University of Montana is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin mid-August 2025. The position is responsible for teaching, research, and service to support the CACREP accredited master’s (School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling) and doctoral (Counselor Education and Counseling) programs.
The position’s 3/2 teaching load will be built around the successful candidate’s interests and program needs. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to advise students and direct dissertation work. Beyond teaching and advising responsibilities, candidates are expected to develop a strong research program incorporating grant funding in relevant areas of Counselor Education and Supervision.

Title: Assistant Professor
Schedule: Full time academic year position beginning fall semester 2025
Salary: $65,000-$75,000 commensurate with qualifications

Qualifications
- A doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program at time of hire.
- License eligible in Montana (LCPC and/or School Counseling).
- Evidence of excellence in teaching and supervision.
- Evidence of potential for successful scholarly activity, including grant activity.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice in counselor education.
