Overview
Senior Data Analyst, Data Platform and Products is responsible for developing and maintaining standard data model for Scotiabank Global Banking and Market’s (GBM) Data Platform and Products. The standard data model known as the Common Data Model (CDM) is used by all GBM data producers and consumers, that include GBM business areas, corporate functions, such as Risk, Finance, AML, Compliance and Analytics. Its scope includes Customer, Trade, Cash, Market, and Reference datasets.
This role will work with data producers and consumers to support the creation of data product vision to operationalize and manage reusable data products thereby accelerating the delivery of data solutions and driving business value across GBM.
Proficiency in one or more of the following technologies: Apache AVRO, Java programming, Eclipse IDE, Apache Maven, Jenkins, Linux shell script, Python, Google Cloud services – BigQuery, Looker, DataFlow are required.
Experience with Dremio, ERwin Data Modeler and/or other data modeling tools is nice to have.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and translate business requirements into actionable data solutions.
- Perform business and data analysis to support the delivery of business requirements
- Design, develop, and optimize conceptual, logical, and physical data models for GBM to support operational and analytical needs.
- Support the Data platform team to manage CDM development pipeline, provide progress updates, and raise risks / issues as applicable.
- Collaborate with leadership to align data product strategies with overall business goals.
- Identify and resolve data-related issues, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Keeps abreast with industry best practices.
- Facilitate training sessions to ensure team stays updated on industry best practices.

- Post-secondary education
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Project and program management experience
- Ability to work independently and solve complex problems through collaboration.
- Ability to increase operating efficiency and produce high quality technical solutions
