About Our Summer 2023 Internship Program

Our interns provide valuable support and fresh perspectives to our teams as we work toward setting a new direction in the fight against cancer.

This is a 10-week program, designed to provide impactful work and foster an environment for learning and professional development through mentorship and networking opportunities. Throughout the program, our interns will be empowered to drive key projects with real business outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional and personalized program, offering guidance and support from our Hiring Managers and assigned mentors.

Our program is intended to begin mid-June and end mid-late August. The working hours for this role are 9am-5pm Pacific Time, with some flexibility determined by the Hiring Manager and leadership team. This position is open to remote within the US or onsite at our headquarters in South San Francisco.

About this opportunity:

This position will work closely with the Scientific and Medical Affairs team to help build out the reimbursement pathway and timeline for relevant guideline bodies and healthcare agencies. You will be expected to conduct secondary research and synthesize competitor information.

As Freenome approaches commercialization, this role is imperative to the coverage and reimbursement strategy for our blood-based biomarker colorectal cancer screening test. The information garnered from this internship project will inform Freenome’s plans to receive guideline inclusion which will impact how payers, such as the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and private payers reimburse Freenome’s test. Ensuring guideline bodies include Freenome’s tests in their recommendations directly feeds into our mission towards empowering everyone to prevent, detect, and treat their disease.

What you’ll do:

  • Analyze and synthesize the reimbursement pathways and timelines for relevant guideline bodies
  • Analyze the competitor landscape as it relates to coverage and reimbursement
  • Create and present a detailed Guideline Inclusion Strategy slide deck including:
    • Background
    • Timeline
    • Reimbursement competitor landscape
    • Inclusion process
    • Evidentiary requirements for each guideline body of interest
  • Support other Medical Affairs projects as needed

Must haves:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, ideally in fields related to Health Policy, Public Health, Health Administration, or Finance
    • Or alternatively, within 1 year post-graduation
