HR Generalist

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

  • Lead recruitment strategies to attract top talent and reduce time-to-fill for open positions.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions;
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Design and implement effective onboarding processes to enhance employee retention.
  • Manages employee training and development programs, assessing effectiveness and identifying needs for improvement.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS (Human Resource Information System).
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs.
  • Contribute to the performance management process, including tracking performance reviews and providing support to managers.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance to employees on HR-related inquiries and assist in resolving employee relations issues.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and areas of improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state labor laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations in multiple states.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed to complete reports.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • SHRM certification a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Able to travel at least 15% of the time to other offices.
