The Lead Financial Processor works within Protective's Corporate Mailroom. They are responsible for providing process knowledge to individuals within and outside the team. This role serves as the subject matter expert for team members and is accountable for serving as an escalation point for the Document Management Financial Team. The individual in this position is required to support multiple teams with complex work, specialized processing, and research. This role is expected to process work unless needed in the Lead capacity. Process work includes processing remote bank deposits, creating accurate journal entries, and maintaining various financial records related to customer payments. This is a production-based role with time service goals and set minimum production standards. The Lead Specialist represents Document Management and Corporate Mail as the (SME) subject matter expert for the Document Management Financial Team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Applies deep process knowledge to answer daily questions from team members. Understands all work unit processes and systems at an expert level. Has a thorough understanding of workflow and the connection with other service teams. Answers questions daily from team members to facilitate the workflow and processing of transactions. Can quickly develop or have a deep institutional knowledge and can apply that knowledge in reviewing and anticipating workflow and customer impact. Applies process and institutional knowledge in interactions with other departments and outside entities.
- Conducts research, investigates complaints, and handles escalated issues. Research complex issues that arise out of the course of business. Applies process and institutional knowledge to investigate complaints. Handles escalated issues within the work unit. Brings issues for management review as necessary. Identifies trends and patterns. Provides process improvement recommendations to managers. Uses rigorous logic and methods to develop effective solutions to ongoing issues.
- Participates on project teams and works as the department subject matter expert in interfacing with other areas or units. Is a contributor to various project teams to assist in the evaluation of workflow and determine the impact to workflow of proposed changes. Participates in the work required to implement changes to workflow including systems, acquisitions, and products. Interfaces routinely with the business support team.
- Processes transactions as defined by the manager of the work area to assist in meeting overall team productivity goals. Processing may include high profile, complex transactions as well as routine, daily transactions.
- Supports various levels of the management team. Meets routinely and proactively with managers and training. Is supportive and connected to management activities and decision making. Reports issues and/or trends to the managers and supervises team members.
Requirements:
- 5+ Years of experience in Operational Accounting, Banking, or Bookkeeping.
- 2+ Years of experience in leadership or supervisory roles.
- Conceptual understanding of business issues and their effects on the financial statements.
- Experience making remote deposits.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Broad knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, standards, and current technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
