General Summary:

This position can be based in Santa Clara or San Diego, California.

Qualcomm is transforming the compute industry by reimagining silicon and delivering cloud-scale, production-ready server platforms that prioritize performance determinism, energy efficiency, and operational simplicity at hyperscale. We are seeking a visionary VP, Engineering – Data Center Software to lead the software, firmware, platform enablement, and system architecture required to scale Qualcomm’s server-class SoCs from silicon bring-up through hyperscaler deployment. This leader will drive software across CPU platform firmware, power and performance management, OS and hypervisor integration, BMC and platform management, telemetry, orchestration, verification and validation, release quality, and customer fleet readiness.

Position Overview

  • Lead overall software architecture, development, integration, and execution for Qualcomm’s Data Center platforms, spanning server CPU, networking, platform management, and cluster-scale infrastructure.
  • Own the end-to-end software roadmap required to enable scalable data center systems, including platform software, firmware interfaces, orchestration, observability, telemetry, lifecycle management, compilers, runtimes, and customer deployment readiness.
  • Drive software strategy and execution across CPUs, networking fabrics, storage integration, system management, and cloud-native infrastructure to support hyperscaler and enterprise data center deployments.
  • Partner closely with silicon, hardware systems, product management, customer engineering, program management, operations, and ecosystem teams to deliver complete data center solutions from product definition through commercialization.
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing global software engineering organization with strong execution discipline, technical depth, and accountability across complex, multi-year roadmap commitments.
  • Establish engineering best practices, operating mechanisms, quality gates, and release discipline to enable predictable software delivery, platform stability, performance optimization, and customer confidence.
  • Serve as a senior technical engagement point for strategic customers, hyperscalers, ecosystem partners, and internal executive stakeholders, translating complex software and system-level trade-offs into clear decisions and execution plans.
  • Operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment, influencing outcomes across hardware, software, systems, networking, product, and business teams without relying solely on direct authority.

Minimum Requirements

  • Fifteen (15) or more years of software engineering, systems software, infrastructure software, or data center platform development experience.
  • Six (6) or more years of leadership experience managing software engineering teams, technical leaders, and complex cross-functional execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field of study.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Twenty (20) or more years of software engineering, systems software, infrastructure software, or data center platform development experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of leadership experience managing software engineering teams, technical leaders, and complex cross-functional execution.
  • Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field of study.

In addition to experience, the successful candidate will have demonstrated competencies in the following areas:

  • Strategic Execution: Ensures execution plan drives key strategic priorities and company goals; has significant impact on the direction of a large number of critical projects.
