JOB SUMMARY
The newly formed Engineering program at Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biomedical Engineering commencing in the Fall 2025 semester. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or related fields and research interests conducive to involving undergraduate students. Applicants should have a PhD or assurance they will complete the degree by January 2026. Applications should include:

Marymount’s Engineering program (comprised of degrees in biomedical and mechanical engineering) is part of the Marymount University’s School of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering and housed in the College of Sciences and Humanities. Faculty are expected to teach high-quality student-centric undergraduate courses in face-to-face and potentially online settings. The School of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering is located on Marymount University’s main Campus in Arlington, VA in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Applicants for these positions should have interest in growing and building significant hands-on opportunities for undergraduate students to complete practical engineering projects, especially with digital fabrication technologies. There will be ample opportunities for strong collaborations with colleagues in Mechanical engineering, Biology, Mathematics & Physical Therapy. Successful candidates could also interact with the new research Center for Optimal Aging focused on research, advocacy and practical solutions in pursuit of improving participation in society for aging populations.
Major duties and responsibilities
Support and integrate the mission and core values of Marymount University and Academic Affairs, including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Teach a 3/3 course load each year, with opportunities to reduce load with external funding.
Actively involve undergraduate students in research projects.
Maintain a record of quality, peer reviewed scholarship.
