Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team at the Cedar Bayou Facility located in Baytown, Texas. This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of capital and expense projects using a staged gate approval process (Chevron Project Development and Execution Process, CPDEP). The Project Team at Cedar Bayou currently manages projects of up to $20MM with most of the projects in the $0.5MM to $5MM range
Responsibilities
- Ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
- Supports preparation and control of project scope of work, specifications, cost, and schedules
- Ensures industry standards and design codes are followed
- Follows a strategy for project engineering management and site priorities
- Ensures execution of project deliverables are completed to plan
- Ensures QA/QC plans are in place and properly followed and executed
- Responsible for proper communication within project team and stakeholders
- Manages the project Management of Change process
- Manages the development and implementation of Operational Readiness and provide technical support during commissioning and start-up
- Completion of all project closure documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 5 years of experience within the petrochemical industry OR non-degree with at least 10 years of experience within a petrochemical industry
- Commitment to safety along with proven leadership skills
- Ability to work with multi-disciplined teams
- A self-starter with excellent organization and planning skills
- Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Experience with projects in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to manage tasks and projects in various stages of implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with gated project management processes
- Experience in scheduling, project controls, and cost estimating
