    A Brief Overview 

    This RN posiiton requires 12 months of previous RN work expereince. It is Day/Night rotating, 12 hour shifts, every third weekend.

    The Gen Peds/Adol Unit in Children's Seashore House is a 15-bed general pediatric and Adolescent unit and we primarily care for patients with bronchiolitis, pneumonia, asthma, fever, eating disorders/malnutrition/failure to thrive, poisoning of medicinal agent, acute anxiety/delirium, abdominal pain/other digestive issues and migraines. Over the past year, we have cared for over 2,000 patients, whose average age ranges from days old to 18 years of age. Almost all admissions are unplanned and had a median length of stay of 2 days. A few of our patients require surgery, and about 10% are medically complex and technologically dependent. Most patients go home with1-5 medications prescribed and about 20% have a scheduled follow-up appointment. Fewer than 2% of our patients are readmitted within 7-daysry disease.
    Deliver compassionate, culturally effective care as a Registered Nurse at CHOP. Ranging from advanced beginners to expert practitioners, our nurses coordinate all facets of patient care, collaborate with diverse healthcare professionals, and can progress to managing the most complex cases in their clinical area.

    Responsibilities 

    • Deliver family-centered care guided by CHOP’s Nursing Professional Practice Model. 

    • Develop, evaluate, and revise patients’ plans of care throughout their hospitalization. 

    • Gather and analyze data to inform the care team and delegate tasks. 

    • Promote excellent patient outcomes by adhering to evidence-based practices, nursing standards, and safety procedures. 

    • Identify and address safety concerns or ethical dilemmas with unit leadership. 

    • Develop effective partnerships with the interdisciplinary care team. 

    • Adopt healthcare technology and clinical practice changes in a fast-paced environment. 

    • Maintain CEUs for nursing licensure and comply with annual nursing competencies and mandatory education. 

     

    Education 

    • Required: Technical diploma- Nursing 

    • Preferred: Bachelor's degree- Nursing 

      

    Experience 

    • Required: At least one (1) year RN experience  

    • Preferred: Prior experience in pediatrics or area of specialty 

      

    Skills and Abilities  

    • Use of patient-facing technology (IV pumps, point-of-care devices, CR monitors)
