Overview: Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Construction Services Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
This position is a key and vital part of the UES Team! Your day as the Lab Supervisor in the Construction Services Department at UES will be both challenging and rewarding. As the materials testing lab supervisor, your responsibilities would include oversight and managing the daily lab activities under the materials testing lab manager. We are looking for a person who has a team player mentality, leadership skills, and great attention to detail. A person who can work independently and prioritize, organize, and pragmatically complete required tasks.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear; body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodationThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodationThe testing process for the various construction materials (i.e., soils, concrete, asphalt, etc.) is repetitive in nature several times per hourThe technician’s primary duty is to test soil compaction and test the compressive strength of concrete samples, as well as testing other construction materials; testing these samples requires extensive manual lifting and handling. Job Responsibilities:
- Maintaining lab workflow & organization
- Receiving samples, reviewing & entering test data into FDOT’S online database (mac)
- Performing laboratory tests as required for construction materials testing in accordance with USACE, ASTM
