HVAC Foreman Unlimited
Position is responsible for supervising and overseeing a variety of skilled work related to the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system which includes installation, preventative maintenance and service calls.
**This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & SafetySensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.**
Essential Duties:
- Supervises a team of HVAC journeyman, contactors, and apprentices to ensure completion of work orders in timely manner and ensures all city codes, OSHA and EPA regulations have been followed.
- Oversees the opening and inspecting air handling, cooling and heating equipment, recognizing, repairing or replacing worn or non-functional components, adjusting and lubricating such parts to insure continued, efficient functioning of the machine or system. Types of systems include window air conditioning units, rooftop units, chiller units, and reciprocating systems.
- Checks, renews or cleans filters in heating or cooling air handling equipment, and ventilators. Inspects, adjust and replaces belts. Lubricate motors, bearings, pulleys, linkages and adjust as necessary.
- Works with team to install new HVAC equipment, follows maintenance schedules, log work accomplished, and interact with building based personnel to ascertain problems and locations of needed work.
- Participates in the training, development and mentoring of less experienced employees. ? Drives district owned vehicles to assigned sites ? Schedules and plans the work to meet timelines.
- Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
- Communicates effectively with all OKCPS personnel, students, and visitors.
- Core work schedule may change due to operational needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- To ensure continuity of services, alternative work site may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for alternative work site will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for alternative work site will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
Job Specifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Current Oklahoma unlimited journeyman license.
- Must have valid driver’s license to operate district owned vehicles with an acceptable driving record as determined to meet district motor vehicle insurance coverage requirements.
- Current EPA certification.
- Five (5) years experience as journeymen in maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment.
- Two (2) years supervisory/foreman experience managing crews of multiple HVAC journeyman.
- Current Boiler Operator License or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Knowledgeable of current city codes, OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Ability to build and maintain schedules for manpower.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, design specifications and drawings for use in construction or assembly HVAC equipment.
