Summary:

The Activity Assistant is a multi-faceted role that is responsible for helping prospective residents move into Luther Ridge as well as responsibility for providing a variety of fun and meaningful activities for residents of the community.

Essential Responsibilities - Activities:

  • Coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of activities, which are specifically designed to enrich the lives of Luther Ridge residents. Develops the monthly Luther Ridge activities newsletter / calendar.
  • Develops and leads one-on-one and group activities. Prepares rooms, equipment, supplies prior to each activity and cleans up after each activity. Encourages resident and family participation in activities. Transports residents to and from activities as needed.
  • Completes appropriate documentation such as historical monthly activities calendars, and media consent forms.
  • Coordinates the preparation of bulletin boards and seasonal decorations.
  • Implements a program when a vendor or volunteer has cancelled.
  • Works with new residents/families to complete their social history forms.
  • Drive residents to and from activities off property

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or associates degree in health and human services or related field or equivalent education and experience.
    • Must be able to clearly and proficiently communicate with people of all ages, while maintaining an energetic and positive attitude.
    • Plan, implement, evaluate and execute activities for the seniors that resident at Luther Ridge.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team based environment required.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills required.
    • Occasionally work flexible hours to meet programming needs.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor required.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English required.

    Physical/Mental Demands: 

    • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
    • Ability to remain calm and handle emergencies appropriately
    • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset people within the facility
    • Must be able to drive the bus
