Job Description

Job Summary

The RAC Control Desk Personnel duties and responsibilities consist of assisting RAC leadership in the oversight of the gym’s day-to-day operations and care. The RAC Control Desk Personnel will be responsible for assisting RAC leadership in organizing, executing, and promoting of all RAC activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and orient visitors to the RAC and SWBTS campus, explain facility guidelines, and encourage involvement in recreational activities.

  • Oversee the safe use of the gym, weight room, aerobics room, and all areas managed by the RAC and enforces RAC rules and regulations in order to maintain and ensure safety for all RAC users.

  • Monitor RAC events, promptly report any safety concerns or incidents to the RAC leadership, and if necessary, engage in conversation to handle disputes and/or politely enforce campus/RAC policies.

  • Support the RAC leadership in organizing, leading, and promoting all RAC-sponsored programs and activities.

  • Provide excellent customer service. Primarily by helping answer and monitor the RAC email, phone, and calendar.

  • Communicate effectively with instructors, referees, or others and provide support as needed for their activities and classes.

  • Handles and processes sales of RAC’s concessions, memberships, and/or rentals.

  • Assist with cleaning, organizing, and inventorying RAC facilities and supplies.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, in alignment with the needs of the facility and area of responsibility.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school education completion required,

  • Experience in principles, procedures of recreational & sport activities required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly and simply articulate the value propositions of SWBTS.

  • Exemplary social skills with an ability to be a part of and contribute to a collaborative team and demonstrate love and appreciation for cross-cultural interaction.

  • Exhibits a strong work ethic, personal initiative, and reliability, effectively managing multiple tasks with attention to detail while contributing positively as a team member.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with higher gym related software preferred.

  • Ability to demonstrate safe use as well as proper techniques of weight equipment required.

  • Ability to handle cash with accuracy and integrity.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and move about to the office to interact with other staff members.

  • Ability to use a computer and near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.

  • Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.

  • Ability to traverse campus for meetings and talk to groups while doing so.
