As an intern in a hybrid role, you will be offered the flexibility of working with your peers and leaders in both onsite SHC location and virtually from your alternate work location via various collaborative platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft teams.

Our past summer interns have participated in areas that provide a diverse range of experiences, allowing interns to develop critical thinking, technical proficiency, and organizational skills while contributing to meaningful projects within Stanford Health Care, such as:
Supply Chain Distribution Center: Interns will work directly with the shortages work group, which involves members from multiple divisions of Stanford Medicine’s supply chain. They will support every aspect of the healthcare supply chain, from clinical approval of substitute items to procurement and distribution to clinicians. Interns may also assist with mapping and coordinating with strategic vendors to support supply chain reliability efforts. This role offers a holistic view of hospital supply chain operations, including how supply disruptions are identified and managed, substitute identification, clinical approval, system implementation, and logistics and distribution. Interns will gain insights into performance improvement and supply chain resiliency.
Interventional Platform Education and Quality: Interns will participate in conducting hand-off communication, data collection and analysis, wound class audits, and OR/SPD instrument process optimization. They will be introduced to various departments within the Interventional Platform area. Successful candidates for this department are fast learners, familiar with MS Office, and self-motivated.
Facilities Management, Space Planning, and Sustainability Program: Interns will support various areas in facilities management, space planning, and sustainability programs, focusing on project coordination and employee engagement. They may also participate in marketing and branding activities, including creating marketing assets, software and systems related to sales, and data collection and analysis. Interns will be exposed to activities such as food safety audits and inspections, serving as guest experience ambassadors, and participating in daily and weekly operations meetings. They may also support inventory management activities, including participating in Gembas and assisting project managers with meeting preparation and organization. Additionally, interns may focus on quality improvement initiatives and projects, such as viz-wall redesign, updating project documents to optimize labor utilization, and conducting evaluations of quality and compliance.
Service Excellence: Interns will engage in data analysis to support patient experience performance evaluation and decision-making. They will develop surveys and dashboards/visuals, manage new and ongoing projects, review and ensure the quality of key organizational reports, and manage internal survey processes.
