POSITION – Union: Substation Electrician 3/C
NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1
LOCATION: CT – Orange – 100 Marsh Hill Rd
HOURLY RATE: $39.80 - $45.05
Responsibilities
· Assist substation electricians through following instructions under the direction of higher class electricians and perform a variety of routine duties according to previous experience on similar or related work.
· Assist higher class electricians in performing all aspects of transmission & distribution and substation operations, maintenance, construction & installation.
· Ability to manufacture small parts necessary for repairs.
· Qualified as safety observer of others.
· Understand and use heavy construction equipment.
· Perform other duties as directed.
Skills and Requirements
· Once in the position, you must be able to satisfactorily complete assigned portions of Substation TMP program.
· Expected to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.
Education & Experience
Education:
· Requires, as a minimum, a current State of Connecticut Electrical Journey person E-2 license or Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic related field.
· The E-2 License must be maintained.
· Requires the use of advanced trades’ mathematics together with the use of diagrams, electrical maps, schematics and construction drawings, drawings, and charts.
· Calculate and apply electric formulas.
· Use a variety of measuring and testing instruments, knowledge of National Electrical Code and National Electric Safety Codes.
· Use mobile data terminals and instruments.
· Must have and maintain a valid Connecticut driver's license, must obtain and maintain a CT CDL.
Experience:
· Six to twelve months experience in substation electrical work performance.
· Involved in the work performance associated with substation equipment, maintenance, operations, construction and installation, and troubleshooting of wide range of substation equipment and associated controls.
Working Conditions
· Good working conditions.
· Some exposure to cold when working outside with occasional exposure to oil, chemicals, dust and dirt.
· Able to work inside underground network lines (holes, vaults, etc.)
· Able to work from heights.
Physical Demand
· Able to wear a respirator when needed.
· Light physical demand.
· Rare lifting up to 60 pounds sometimes in difficult positions while installing or building new installations.
