Epic Principal Trainer Revenue Cycle and Access

POSITION SUMMARY
Works with the Manager, IT Clinical Informatics and Training to lead optimization efforts and assist in the design of workflows, process improvement, and quality initiatives as they relate to revenue cycle, health information management (HIM), and patient access use of the electronic health record (EHR) used at Mount Nittany Health to effectively support the financial and operational objectives of the health system. Assists with the creation, maintenance, and presentation of a broad library of training materials targeting revenue cycle, HIM and access staff at Mount Nittany Health with primary attention to the correct and efficient use of the EHR systems to maximize revenue, minimize costs, optimize processes for appointment scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and improve the overall patient experience. This individual assists in the design of the education and training plan for the EHR system and Mount Nittany Health specific applications. Develops expertise in assigned applications as well as business area and departmental workflows. This individual will specialize in either Revenue Cycle/HIM or Patient Access and provide cross coverage.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent healthcare experience is required.
Experience:
One year of work in a healthcare revenue cycle, HIM, or patient access setting which has provided the applicant with significant exposure to and knowledge of relevant operating policies and procedures, processes and interdependencies.
Experience managing projects preferred.
Previous experience with Epic systems is preferred.
Previous experience with relevant applications and Hyland Onbase, Quadax, 3M, and/or Solventum preferred.
Previous experience with providing education of software application or health care related training.
Epic certification in any of the following applications as a principal trainer or analyst is preferred: Prelude, Cadence, Resolute HB, Resolute PB, HIM and Identity
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Exercises strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in the area of communication between technical and clinical staff, including the ability to listen well to others is required
Skill in communicating complex processes using multiple communication methods (presentation, written, recorded, and electronic).
Public speaking ability.
Strong ability to use written and recorded communication techniques.
Good understanding of Electronic Medical Record systems.
Strong abilities in use of Microsoft Office Suite products.
Experience in a health care environment.
Effective teaching skills are required.
Organizational and motivational skills, including the proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and positively motivate non-subordinate personnel to achieve desired actions and outcomes is required.
Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively toward stated goals
Interest in, and enthusiasm for technology and its potential for improving inter- and intra-departmental efficiency and effectiveness is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in development of optimized workflows for revenue cycle, HIM, and patient access as they relate to usage of the electronic medical record systems in use including the establishment and reinforcement of standard operating procedures, staff education, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Participates in the design, implementation, and integration of relevant IT systems and infrastructure.
Consults and coordinates with the Clinical Informatics & Training Manager, as well as other IT Managers and Department and Operational Leaders.
Leads and executes initiatives to improve operational efficiency, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
Remains current in health informatics to develop applications that increase efficiency in revenue cycle, HIM, and patient access.
Supports organizational change using communication and educational methods.
Uses key metrics to track and evaluate performance outcomes. Analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop action plans that drive measurable results to meet department goals (cost reduction, improving cash flow, reducing denials/write-offs, etc.).
