Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.  Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

Is responsible for developing, linking, and supporting employment and educational opportunities for identified Consumers, utilizing evidence-based models (IPS/SE).

Job Title: IPS Supported Employment Specialist (Memphis, TN)

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8a-4:30p

JOB SUMMARY: Is responsible for developing, linking, and supporting employment and educational opportunities for identified Consumers, utilizing evidence-based models (IPS/SE).  


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and establish relationships and gain transitional and supported employment positions with agencies.
  • Will provide Consumer care within the parameters of the Supported Employment (SE) model.
  • Will provide Consumer care within the parameters of Individualized Placement Support (IPS).
  • Assist team members in identifying Consumers’ individual education and employment goals.
  • Accompany Consumers to school meetings, job interviews, and other meetings associated with C’s vocational and/or educational goals.
  • Participate in conferences and trainings as required.
  • Work with Consumers on resume building, application submissions, and employment skill enhancing tasks.
  • Work with Consumers in gaining and/or enhancing skills while completing tasks side by side with Consumers.
  • Monitor, coach, and train Consumers working in the Individual Placement and Support/Supported Employment program.
  • Establish and maintain communication with employers for Transitional Employment Placements in order to build professional relationships.
  • Develop relationships with educational institutions and resources; refer, link, and advocate for individual needs in the educational system.
  • Responsible for completion of all documentation as outlined by Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend morning and weekly team meetings as scheduled.  Follow-up with the plan(s) developed in each meeting.  Attend quarterly All Care Management meetings/trainings.
  • Train, link, and access members interested in employment according to their strengths and abilities.
  • Track data and statistics unique to supported employment.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate documentation as required by the Agency.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for attending all mandatory in-services, continuing education and annual health requirements
  • Comply with all Corporate Compliance policies, practices and procedures
  • Report all unethical activities to supervisor, Corporate Compliance Office, Values Hotline number or Human Resource Director
