About the role
Job Description: Jaws Estates Capital (“Jaws”) is the family office of Barry Sternlicht, founder of Starwood Capital Group and Starwood Hotels. Jaws is primarily focused on alternative investments including venture capital, growth equity, and private equity as well as opportunistic public investments. In addition to the team’s direct investment activities, they are also actively involved in the selection and management of a portfolio of third-party fund commitments as well as ad-hoc, strategic projects on behalf of the family. Further, the investment team works closely with Jaws’ operations and finance teams to provide periodic portfolio updates to the family. Jaws is currently seeking an Analyst for its investment team to support the ongoing growth of its portfolio. This individual will participate in all aspects of the firm’s activities including analyzing and screening new opportunities, monitoring existing investments, and conducting portfolio-level reporting. High-performing Analysts will have the opportunity for promotion to Associate and / or will receive the support of the team in pursuing business school or other operating/investing roles across Jaws’ broader network. This role will be based in Miami with periodic travel to New York / Greenwich. Relevant Experience and Skills:Experience:
- Strong undergraduate academic record
- 1-4 years’ experience in investment banking, management consulting, accounting, private equity, investment management, or M&A/corporate development
- Strong quantitative skills including financial accounting and modelling
- Detail oriented with an ability to translate data into relevant insights/investment recommendations
- Strong presentation drafting/development as well as verbal/written communication skills
- Professional maturity, highest level of integrity and accountability
- Natural intellectual curiosity which leads to asking probing and insightful questions
- A self-starter with a high sense of urgency and self-discipline to follow things through
- Desire to work in a team-oriented, high agency, collegial atmosphere
- Team player who views personal success as the success of the team
