Job Description

The Associate Director in the Office of Annual Giving (AG) is a key leadership role within the department, responsible for overseeing marketing and creative strategy, data management, and relationship management and service to our 12 Charleston-based clinical development offices and 10 state-wide Regional Health Network (RHN) locations. This person is responsible for creating broad, strategic, donor-centric solicitation strategies and managing priority projects for the office and raises $1,000,000 annually.

 

Grateful Patient Omnichannel Marketing Program (30%):

  • Manage and enhance the Grateful Patient Omnichannel Marketing program to increase donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades.

  • Develop and implement personalized outreach strategies for grateful patients, leveraging direct mail, email campaigns, texting, social media and digital ads, enterprise and national industry giving days and personal solicitations.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams, leadership, and staff to identify potential grateful patients and ensure seamless communication throughout the engagement process.

  • Independently manage the maintenance and implementation of crowdfunding, peer to peer, Facebook fundraising, MUSC Ambassador and other digital philanthropy efforts to meet client expectations and best practices.

  • Provide assistance for all external digital fundraisers, using the MUSC peer to peer digital fundraising platform or Facebook fundraising, by way of strategy assistance and platform troubleshooting.

  • Raise $1,000,000 in revenue from AG related work on behalf of 12 Charleston-based clinical development offices and 10 state-wide RHN locations.

  • Analyze program performance through data analytics and donor feedback to optimize messaging and strategies.

Strategy and Leadership (30%):

  • Formulate discussion around departmental needs to the Director to evaluate current performance and drive future programmatic direction, retention and growth.

  • Manage cross-departmental efforts and creative strategies to best reach our target market of donors, patients and other affiliates of MUSC. This includes 56 direct mail solicitations, 46 email solicitations, and all digital philanthropy efforts.

  • Track institutional news and developments to create broad-based and specific messaging strategies. Collaborate across the broader Institutional Advancement Constituent Engagement Team, MUSC’s Marketing and Communications Department and Communications specialists, and others as appropriate to determine campaign and MUSC-related messaging to be communicated through a variety of direct response appeals.

  •  Stay informed about best practices in annual giving and philanthropy trends to ensure program effectiveness. Consistent evaluation of departmental goals and work alongside Director on department specific strategy for existing or potential appeals.  

  • Collaborate with Director and Advancement Services to continue to refine data specifications, reports and optimal use of grateful patient data segmentation.

Pipeline Strategy and Engagement Portfolio Management (30%):

  • Work with the Director to implement a strategic plan for pipeline identification and management for clinical clients.

  • Lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of the 2,000 donor Virtual Engagement Officer (VEO) Program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and pipeline growth.
