Title: Director, IT Duke University Athletics
Position Summary:
This position will have direct oversight over the athletics information technology department including two full-time staff. Position will serve as the primary contact for a diverse constituency including students, coaches, faculty, staff administrators and outside contacts including the football program. Position will provide technical leadership for the implementation, integration, administration and operational support of all Duke Athletics IT needs and coordinate with Duke OIT to maintain compliant with all Duke policies and procedures. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, high level of integrity and honesty. Candidates must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends
Essential Functions:
- Develop goals, strategies, and future technologies and platforms that meet the needs of Duke Athletics
- Manage campus relationships with OIT and appropriate Duke departments on all Athletics IT matters
- Oversee and manage athletics IT staff including performance appraisals and reviews, mentorship, hiring and onboarding of staff and maintaining a positive team-oriented and innovative environment
- Develop, implement and manage appropriate inventory management processes
- Provide project management support in partnership with athletic and campus facilities as it relates to IT functions
- Manage Data Security and contract review process for IT related purchases
- Diagnose Problems, Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and computer issues users experience in their day-to-day operations (including but not limited to Duke-issued cell phones, computers, laptop, department printers and tablets)
- Assist as needed for gameday technology needs
- Monitor, update and improve new and existing systems
- Oversee repair and/or replace equipment, setup & transfer new cell phones for user and welcome & setup all new hires within the Athletic Department
- Oversee the disposal of all equipment that has reached its end of life in full compliance with Duke University policies
- Oversight of all television subscriptions and digital signage including technical components, templates and training for athletics
- Manage the computer images & ensure that up-to-date images are stored properly
- Manage the Athletics IT ticketing system ensuring users do not have to wait an extended time to have issues resolved
- Have a working knowledge of emerging technologies as they develop to remain on the forefront of needs for our teams and departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5-10 years of IT experience
- Candidates must be proficient in using Microsoft programs (e.g., excel, database and spreadsheets).
- Computer Sciences or Information Technology experience required

- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a highly dynamic and diverse university setting
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain a working knowledge of current Apple products including MacOS
