Position Description:

At Barry-Wehmiller, we measure success by the way we touch the lives of people.  We have an immediate opportunity for a tax leader with a domestic focus, reporting to the Assistant Tax Director. This position is primarily responsible for assisting with all aspects of the domestic corporate tax function including ensuring compliance with tax reporting requirements as well as the accuracy of the tax related financial statement disclosures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):  

  • Prepare and review income tax returns on federal, state, and international levels.
  • Assist in ensuring that the company complies with relevant tax laws and that tax returns and payments are processed on time
  • Complete and review income tax provisions for each legal entity, ensuring timeliness and accuracy for statutory audit and ASC740 purposes.
  • Lead a team of multiple associates through cyclical tax processes as well as non-recurring tax planning opportunities or projects.
  • The Tax Manager is responsible for all tax types, including indirect tax (sales, property, payroll, etc.) and coordinating with other BW departments to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local tax regulations.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve complicated projects, implementing process improvements and providing innovative solutions.
  • Act as liaison with external auditors, external tax agents and tax offices (if required).
  • Performs tax research as necessary.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA credentials or an advanced degree is preferred 
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a mix of public and/or private Corporate Tax environments including experience preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns in various jurisdictions.
  • Experience with One Source Income Tax or similar compliance software.
  • Experience reviewing tax provisions in accordance with ASC740.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with a system of consolidation like OneStream or Host preferred.

Leader of 2-3 Team Members

Work Environment:

This is an in-office position

Position Type:

This is a regular, full-time position with the understanding that a regular workweek will require extended days and hours as needed to meet business needs.

Travel:

Travel could be up to 10% (out of town) as needed.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of the those performed in the job duties.  The employee sits at a desk and uses a computer for prolonged periods of time.  Performing the role frequently uses close vision, speech, hearing, and dexterity to operate office equipment.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
