Position Description:
Calico is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join and lead discovery research projects in the Immunology and Gastroenterology group. Specifically, we are interested in applicants with a long-term interest in understanding the aging mechanisms of immunological and gastrointestinal diseases, with a particular emphasis on inflammatory regulatory pathways and metabolic pathways. We seek expertise in applying cutting-edge biochemical, molecular, and cell biological techniques, including microscopic and "omics" technologies, to unlock the complexities of immune and gastrointestinal physiology with experience in developing new therapeutics for aging, aging-related diseases, and cancer. Position Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent degree in immunology, cell biology, or related fields, with 5-10 years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience
- Creative and critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong technical skills at the bench
- Drug development experience leading to new molecular entities leading to clinical trials
- Track record of impactful publications and patents
- Technical expertise in the following areas: multi-color flow cytometry, live cell imaging, molecular techniques, and primary immune cell and cell line culture, transfection, transduction, and CRISPR technologies
- Expertise in mouse work and organ analysis
- Must be willing to work onsite five days a week
The estimated base salary range for this role is $166,000 - $207,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
