This position is to scribe for a medical provider three days a week, draw blood and enter lab orders into the laboratory computer one day a week, and work two after-hours shifts a week as a medical assistant. (40 hours/week)

Duties and Responsibilities (MA):
- Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance
- Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary
- Assists with office procedures
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements
Duties and Responsibilities (Scribe):
- Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for medical provider
- Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record application
- Updates patient history and other pertinent health information in the patient record
- Prepares and sends all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures
- Complies with policies, including those relating to HIPAA
- Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned
Duties and Responsibilities (Phlebotomist):
- Serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood samples and other specimens and preparing specimens for laboratory testing
- Verifies test requisitions by comparing information on the order to the lab computer to ensure correct billing information is on file with the lab
- Verifies patient identification and explains sampling procedures to patients
- Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks
- Collects urine as needed for testing
- Labels and processes culture specimens
- Maintains specimen integrity by following collection procedures as outlined by the lab
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Resolves unusual test orders by contacting the medical provider, nurses station, or reference laboratory for further clarification
- Maintains an organized and clean workspace

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- 1+ years in a medical office required
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) required
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Prior experience drawing blood required
- First aid certification required
- Professional references required
- Medical scribe experience preferred
- Minimum of 60 WPM preferred
- Phlebotomist certification preferred
- Medical Assisting Certification preferred
