GENERAL SUMMARY

As a Senior Credit Administrator, provide guidance and leadership to other Credit Administrators. Provide credit review and evaluation for assigned commercial borrowers in support of Bank’s credit activities. Ensure credit compliance with Bank regulatory credit specifications.

The incumbent has no direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Work closely with Lending Teams including Team Managers and Portfolio Managers to review and evaluate proposed new and renewal extensions of credit for commercial borrowers paying particular attention to the quality and analysis of the credit presented.
2. Approve proposed extensions of credit within authorized loan limits.
3. Develop, through a collaborative effort with account officers, alternative strategies to address unusually complex or difficult lending situations.
4. Prepare transaction summaries for extensions of credit requiring approval by the Bank’s Board of Directors (Credit Committee).
5. Follow past due loans for ultimate repayment and assist in managing problem loan situations.
6. Update monthly watch list report for assigned portfolio and ensure accurate risk ratings.
7. Work as a resource and mentor to other Credit Administrators. As a mentor, the essential trait/quality expected is the willingness to share experience, impart wisdom and knowledge to others related to a variety of lending/credit/work-related situations.
8. Provide guidance and leadership to new Credit Administrators to ensure they quickly become acclimated to the Bank’s culture and the specific job function.
9. Provide guidance on credit issues including proper structuring, early detection of problem loans to Business Lending Units (i.e. Business Development Officers, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, etc.) and Credit Analysis Department; and provide direction/coaching to enhance the lending staffs’ knowledge of assessing credit risk, with the ultimate goal of protecting the interests of the Bank.
10. Provide ongoing support when required to assist with the documentation of complex loan transactions and/or perform quality control reviews of loan files and/or loan documents.
11. Provide training and mentorship to junior staff within various Lending Teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
• College graduate with major in related fields.
Experience:
• 7 to 15 years of CRE and commercial lending experience with at least 5-7 years in a credit approval function with a commercial bank preferred.

Skills/Ability:
• In-depth knowledge of CRE and commercial lending, with a focus on commercial construction and mortgage finance, asset-based lending, cash flow lending, and trade finance and international banking.
• Experience in subspecialities lending such as oil and gas, or subscription preferred but not required.
• Broad knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to commercial lending, commercial real estate and residential mortgage products.
• Superior credit analysis skills.
• Ability to develop strategies to manage problem real estate and commercial loans.
• Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and on a collaborative basis.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume workflow.
• Desire to work in a dynamic and challenging environment characterized by sometimes changing priorities and short-term deadlines.
OTHER DETAILS
$200,000 - $250,000 / year
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
