SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Business Development Director position has responsibility for company-wide business planning, development, implementation, management, oversight, and reporting activities. To fulfill these obligations, the Business Development Director must be able to work effectively with company management and staff, organize and prioritize multiple overlapping business development tasks, effectively train and manage staff, and prepare business plans, marketing materials, pre-qualification packages, and proposals in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, develop, implement, manage, and report on company-wide business development activities in collaboration with company management and staff.
- Assist company management in the development and implementation of a proactive business development program including goal setting, business plans, tracking, and reporting.
- Monitor and evaluate proposal and bid success rates.
- Develop and track potential project leads.
- Assist with go/no-go decision making.
- Obtain and re-new federal, state, and client specific registrations and pre-qualifications.
- Assist with trade shows and conferences.
- Prepare qualification or cost-based proposal packages with a focus on effective proposal management with respect to quality, cost, and schedule.
- Develop and lead business development training sessions for company managers and staff to raise the collective bar on business development activities.
- Hire, train, and develop proposal writing staff to ensure consistent high quality, effective, and efficient submittals.
- Assist in the identification, cultivation, and development of company teaming partners.
YOU WILL NEED
- Strong technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in area of practice.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software application.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
- High level ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Work hard, remain motivated, and be a self-starter.
- Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities to guide and inspire team members.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in architecture, engineering, and construction (ACE).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in engineering, business, or a related field
- Certified Professional Service Marketer (CPSM) <
