Your role at Clorox:

The Assistant Manager, Sales Accounting, partners with all domestic Clorox business units to provide accounting oversight and support. This position will lead and support various aspects of the monthly and quarterly close processes for trade fund accounting. Key processes supported by this role include the quarterly sweep assumptions and annual sweep close for Exceedra and CPro business, quarterly Accrued Expense balance sheet analytic reviews, monthly account and trade systems reconciliation reviews, and ownership over the trade classification payment audit for Exceedra SBUs.

In this role you will gain a thorough understanding of trade fund accounting and financial reporting controls. This role interacts with various teams including Trade Operations, SBU Finance and Cash Operations. The successful candidate will be eager to have an immediate impact while demonstrating a mindset of continuous improvement. This role includes people management of one direct report.

In this role, you will:

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the execution of monthly and quarterly close processes related to trade funds for all domestic business units. This includes ownership of month/quarter-end accruals, balance sheet account reconciliations, system reconciliations, analytics and reporting.
• Support annual trade fund and SMG "sweep" (reconciliation and close out) of fund year.
• Provide mentorship and support in trade fund accounting matters and other ad hoc requests. Be the 'center of expertise' for
above areas, performing research, updating policies and analyzing emerging pronouncements as needed.
• Provide ongoing support to external audit activities including preparation and review of audit requirements. Identify, recommend and implement process improvements including driving automation/simplification of processes and improving visibility on roles and responsibilities and improving internal control environment.
• Provide coaching and oversight for direct report.
• Other ad hoc projects/requests.

What we look for:

Skills and Abilities
Minimum Required
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition (ASC 606)
• Outstanding project management skills, including substantial attention to detail
• Ability to work in a cross functional environment and form working relationships with other functions and teams.

• Proficient in PC applications (e.g. Excel, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint), and willingness to adapt and learn new systems.

• Continuous improvement mindset, specifically the ability to identify, design and implement process updates to streamline tasks and retain/improve quality.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and predict issues and risks
• Ability to proactively take ownership of issues and ensure timely resolution.

• Passion for supervising and developing teammates as a people manager on this team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:
• SAP, Power BI, Blackline experience
• Exceedra experience
• System implementation and trouble shooting experience


Years and Type of Experience:
Minimum Required:
• 4+ years of accounting and finance experience


Desirable:
• Prior CPG experience related to trade spending and revenue recognition
• Mix of public accounting and industry experience
• CPA license (or demonstrated progress towards licensure)


Education Level/Degree:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting
• CPA license or international equivalent preferred (or tried progress towards licensure)

Workplace type:

Hybrid 3 days a week in Pleasanton, CA or Durham, NC
