Global Product Stewardship and Regulatory Compliance Lead


Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Global Product Stewardship Leader who will be responsible for managing all product and chemical-related information, including chemical product safety, chemical management, and regulatory compliance. You will be instrumental in building Flexsys’ Product Stewardship Strategy and delivering stewardship programs that ensure the responsible and ethical management of our chemical product portfolio throughout their lifecycle.
 

In this position, you'll lead the implementation of best practices aligned with our business objectives, fostering efficiency and compliance across the board. You'll partner closely with the business to facilitate new product development and execute product registration strategies. Your proactive approach will keep us informed about legislative changes, enabling us to identify risks and capitalize on opportunities in the market.
 

Typical responsibilities include, but not limited to:


  • Point of contact for customer inquiries regarding regulatory compliance matters
  • Point of internal contact for raw material and product compliance matters; provide regulatory support for experimental R&D projects.
  • Monitors and communicates current and potential legislative changes and implications and initiates necessary actions      related to changing chemical regulations in various world regions. Actively involved in implementing solutions to address these changes and participating in and contributing to advocacy efforts where appropriate.
  • Manage compliance with global REACH-like regulations (EU, UK, Turkey KKDIK, K-REACH) including registrations, substance volume tracking, letters of access, and working with only representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Global GHS requirements including GHS hazard classification, author/coordinate the authoring of SDSs, oversight of product labeling and monitoring of global adoption and managing SDS and label change communications.
  • Global dangerous goods transport classification of products and shipped chemicals.
  • Research industry trends and recommends improvements to existing processes, testing and technical literature for marketing.
  • Generate and maintain required compliance information for Flexsys manufactured materials.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain regulatory strategies and procedures to meet global compliance requirements for the company in current and target markets.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Qualifications:


The following are required for the role

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline (for example: Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Public Health)
  • 10 years minimum relevant experience in chemical product safety/risk management, product stewardship, regulatory compliance and/or other applicable discipline.
  • Expertise in hazard communication and chemical regulations including GHS, TSCA and REACH.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams and build effective business relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of global product regulatory legislation and regulation in the regions/countries within job scope. (NOTE: This position will need strong expertise with western product stewardship regulations.)
  • Experience with new substance/formulation development (hazard determination based on new product formulation)
  • Experience working directly with internal and external customers and showing a high level of commitment and response to their needs.
  • Strong leadership, communication and strategic thinking skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and without oversight.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Computer literate in standard office systems.
  • This position will regularly engage with stakeholders in the US and EU. Candidate must be available for global calls and meetings scheduled for US time zones (Eastern Time)

The following are preferred for the role

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing industry and/or similar industry
  • Experience with APAC chemical regulations.
  • Experience with Transport Classifications
  • Project Management skills
