Discovery Education is looking for an Intern to join our Social Impact Business Development team. This is an onsite role at our Corporate Headquarters in Charlotte, NC and you will work on a hybrid schedule.
This team extends Discovery Education’s impact through the development of education partnerships with like-minded organizations, non-profits, government agencies, foundations and trade associations that support equity of access in education. Your work will support teachers and students in traditionally underfunded areas such as careers & workforce readiness, health & wellness, STEM, financial literacy, social & emotional learning, life skills and more. CEP programs support whole-child education and provide dynamic real-world learning opportunities for students nationwide.

Discovery Education’s internship program is called B.O.L.D. (Building Opportunities for Leadership & Development).
The paid internship program is eight weeks from June 20, 2023 – August 11, 2023, and you will be required to work a 40-hour work week.
Throughout the 8-week internship program, you will be provided with important and meaningful work and project assignments with a focus on providing you opportunities for growth, visibility, and exposure within the organization. You will be paired up with a Mentor that will be your guide for the projects and work assignments.
What You Will Do
We are seeking a data-savvy, operationally minded individual who has a passion for data quality, business analysis, and systems design. This individual will join the Business Development on projects to ground all aspects of the sales lifecycle in quality data and processes – working directly with members of our Partner Impact and Sales Teams to prepare competitive analysis, lists for outreach, tag partner data, monitor data accuracy, and generate insights. During this internship, you will be working in collaboration with experienced members across Sales & Sales Operations functions of Discovery Education, gaining exposure to the systems and strategies that drive a successful sales and partnerships division. Specifically, you will be engaged in the following three categories of work: Sales Data Quality, Business Analysis and Insights, and Operational Excellence.
Competitive Analysis
- Partner with CEP Business Development Coordinator and Team to identify potential competitive offerings to Discovery Education partnership.
- Assess competitors based on business insights and review for potential areas of growth for Discovery Education
- Combine analysis with business development prospective research.
- Present findings to Social Impact Executive Leadership Team.
Data Analysis & Insights
- Perform exploratory data analysis of CRM data to identify and surface trends.
- Perform analysis and build reports/dashboards to respond to Revenue Team questions and needs.
- Support data maintenance projects as needed.
Operational Excellence
- Partner with Business Development Coordinator on playbooks and tools to memorialize best practices for data entry and monitoring – adapting Sales best practices to the needs of other teams.
- Support teams in preparing and executing trainings on CRM tools and processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Requirements
- Experience in data and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, preferably in a Sales or Marketing context.
- Knowledge of CRM tools (i.e., Salesforce, Pardot) preferred.
- General data cleaning and analysis skills in Excel.
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters or equivalent combination of education.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrate a problem solving/solution-oriented approach.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
