BCD Meetings & Events: Production Manager

Picture producing a big Hollywood movie – finding actors, scheduling shoots, booking travel, helping put together proposals for new scenes, managing files – that’s kind of like what this role is.

 

The Production Manager plays a key role on the L37 team, working with the producers to support clients on their events, from a technical standpoint. The position is hands on, preparing and managing L37 equipment and working on events and broadcasts over 300 attendees. All while working closely with the Senior Production Manager and Director of Event Management, supporting their events as well.

 

This person is an organized, independent, detail-oriented, creative, and flexible team player who is willing to go the extra mile while maintaining work-life-balance. This position reports to the Senior Production Manager.

As a Production Manager, you will:

  • Plan two to three small and medium sized (up to 500 attendee) broadcasts and in-person events per month, including diagramming using VWX, scheduling, ordering equipment and labor, and logistics
  • Manage and operate the L37 studio and location studio events
  • Monitoring technical timelines and sticking to tight schedules
  • Handling changes with quick precision – both onsite and in pre-production
  • Working in the intricacies of virtual events and broadcast platforms
  • Prepare and QC Production and Content owned equipment for events
  • Manage meetings on zoom, Brightcove, teams, etc. per client needs
  • Assist Senior Production Manager and Director of Event Management on larger events
  • Organize and maintain equipment storage facility
  • On-site operation of events, including Technical Directing and show positions based on experience


You are good at:

  • Verbal and written communication
  • Multi-tasking
  • Working with tight deadlines and quick turn arounds
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/PPT etc.), Keynote, Mac
  • Lifting up to 50lbs and working with equipment and large cases
  • Understanding of audio, video, LED, lighting, power, and rigging


You might also have:

  • Vectorworks experience
  • Technical operation and/or management experience
  • Blackmagic switcher operation
  • Yamaha mixer operation
  • Troubleshooting efficiently in high pressure circumstance


You should know:

  • This role is hybrid, with 3 days a week in the Chicago office and on-site travel
  • Travel for this role is 30-40%, international and domestic
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in theater or live events is required
  • Our standard working hours are 9:00 AM -5:00 PM with an hour break. Onsite is 10 hour day standards with a one hour break.
